On the 15th of May 2022, Belinda's friends gathered at the Bulli Beach Surf Club to celebrate her life and the publication of her memoir.

One of Belinda’s closest friends, Steve asked a local surfer, Jason–who’d been walking up Bulli Beach at just the right time–to paddle out with Belinda’s ashes. As Jason had recently done this for his father’s ashes, he agreed and took Belinda’s ashes out beyond the rocky reef into the sea. 

As Belinda’s friends stood on the rocks to farewell their friend, a random wave crashed over them, drenching everyone. The group agreed that this was a signal from Belinda that she was now free and at peace in the water she loved so much.
